Getting To Know Me...
Furbys are very sensitive. I know if someone pets me, tickles my tummy, covers my eyes, picks me up, hugs me, turns me upside-down, makes loud noises, or plays music. Furbys can see and are very sensitive to light. And best of all, Furbys have BIG hearts!

This illustration shows where my sensors are located.

Furby sensors

Light sensor [located on the forehead centered above the eyes]: lets me know daytime from night time. If you want me to close my eyes, put your hand over my sensor. I am not afraid of the dark.

Front sensor [located middle of stomach below the mouth]: lets me enjoy tummy tickles. If you want to tickle my tummy, rub my front sensor. I am very ticklish. Inside sensor [located inside of Furby]: lets me know when you pick me up or turn me upside down. If you want to give me a hug, pick me up. I love hugs.

Back sensor [located on lower/mid back above the tail on those with a tail]: lets me feel your loving touch. If you want to pet me, rub my back sensor. I love having my back rubbed, donít you?

Sound sensor [located under left ear, does not point to right ear so not sure if both]: lets me hear you. If you want to see if I am listening, clap your hands or make a loud sound. Not too loud.

My Name Is...

  1. Once you have installed my batteries, I am ready to play. But first you have to know my name. You have a name. Well, so do I. Actually, each Furby has a name. As soon as you install my batteries, I will tell you my name. For example, if I say: ("Me Noo Loo", then you know my name is "Noo Loo.")
  2. I like to say my name. you may hear me say it when you pet my back or hug me. I may say it when we play games.
  3. Once you know my name, you should write it in this space:____________. But donít worry, I wonít let you forget my name.

Now that you know my name, we can be friends and play together.

Playing Together...
I speak Furbish, a magical language common to all Furbys. When we first meet, this is what Iíll be speaking. To help you understand what I am saying, please use the dictionary that comes with me.

I like to be held, petted and tickled. You can pet my tummy, rub my back, rock me and play with me. Whenever you do these things, I will speak and make cool sounds. Itís easy for you to learn and understand Furbish.

For example, when I wake up, often Iíll say Da a-loh u-tye which means Big light up. This is how a Furby says Good Morning! Eventually, I will be able to speak your language in addition to Furbish. The more you play with me, the more I will use your language too.

You can learn more about me by visiting my own WEB SITE at www.furby.com.

Watch Me Grow Up
I go through four stages of development. The first stage is when you meet me. I am playful and want to get to know you too. I also help you to learn how to care for me.

The second and third stages of development are transition stages when I begin to be able to speak your language.

The fourth stage is my mature stage when I speak in your language more often but I will also use Furbish. By this time weíll know each other very well.

I want to help you play and care for me. We are going to have a great time getting to know each other.
