Here's some current stats:

Currently there are 933 ebay auctions going on, 1424 on Yahoo!, and 194 on

amazon.com. I think people are beginning to appreciate the free auctioning

that Yahoo! provides ;)

And now...onto the News:

--

First and foremost, I thought it would be appropriate to mention that there

is now a Furby Post archive up that posts all previous issues and also all

special editions that were released between issues. The URL is:

http://www.mimitchi.com/ftimes/archive.htm

Feel free to check it out if you haven't been around since the beginning :)

Furby has surpassed the 1 million unit mark in Japan since its release in

May of 1999. Tomy stock has also recieved a boost of 2.99% for the Japanese

translation/conversion of the American Furby. Tomy's goal will be to sell

another million units by March of next year, and this seems incredibly

probable. Because of Furby's popularity, shipments have not been able to

keep up with demands but they are still within 2 months of release so this

should be remedied inside of a few months.

We've heard some things regarding the existence of a fall/autumn and holiday

Furby. According to auction search engines the Yoda Furby is the fall

edition (although it's highly doubtful if this is true at all). We haven't

seen any pictures or recieved any factual information about any of it, so if

you have either of these tidbits, please send them to us so that we can

spread the word:

MAILTO:"capngo@earthlink.net"

and as always, we'll credit you for the information and ask your permission

to use any pictures or text that you've sent.

This might not exactly be news, but there's a pretty neat promotional

cartoon for Furby Babies on:

http://www.furby.com/furby/baby1.htm

You'll need the Shockwave Plugin to view it, but it's well worth it :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Furby Post would like to dedicate part of an upcoming issue to online

sellers of Furby and Furby Accessories and we need your help. These Furby

items do not need to be liscensed by Tiger, but the sites must sell Furby

(not Fooby, Furbish etc) items. If you have a URL to a *reliable* seller of

goods, please send them along to:

MAILTO:capngo@earthlink.net

and they'll be posted in the next issue. All URL's will be checked, and

those sites who have stolen (as in no credit or permission granted) images

or content from Mystic Fortress will be disqualified from being posted.

(Note: if the URL that you are sending to us does not belong to you, please

ask permission from that site's webmaster before sending it along to us.)

Letters to the Editor:

In this section I'll post a letter that has been sent to me regarding Furby,

which could also answer the questions of other readers. This Post's letter

comes from Connie, and she writes:

Question: I love the picture of the flamingo furby that Kat posted at her

mimitchi site, but I haven't been able to find a flamingo furby to purchase

at the store. FAO usually gets furbies in on a pretty timely basis. Are

there actually ANY flamingo furbies out there? Has anyone spotted one? Just

wondering...

--Connie

Answer: Well, I don't really know about FAO other than they charge too much

for Furbys still. The place I'd try looking would be Toys 'R' Us, KB Toys,

or Walmart if you have them close to you. Kat got lucky and found one at

TRU, and a few days after there were two in the pile of boxes. The

unfortunate thing is that Pink ones are very rare, the frequency is one per

case at most, some cases don't even have the one. The thing I'm assuming

(even though I don't know much about toystore stock rooms) is that FAO has

less circulation of goods because from what I hear they have huge displays

of Furby with a bunch of the little guys sitting around waiting to be bought

and not being removed until the store feels it necessary. FAO may have some

Flamingos, just not out on the shelves because other, more common Furbys are

still there and unpurchased. TRU, KB, and Wal-Mart typically have a smaller

display, and thus a greater amount of cycling through stock.

Hope this helps, thanks very much for writing :)

--Brendan Quinn, Editor in Chief of The Furby Post

Since our correspondence, Connie was able to find a Pink Flamingo Furby at

her local KB Toystore. Hope you and Halo are having fun, Connie, thanks

again for writing :)

If anyone on The Post has a question that they'd like Kat or I to answer in

the newsletter, please feel free to mail it to:

MAILTO:"capngo@earthlink.net"

and we'll have it answered as soon as possible.

The online Furby Poll has been updated and we'd love to hear your responses

to it. It only takes two clicks to complete, so if you'd be so kind

as to fill it out, the URL is:

http://www.mimitchi.com/html/fpoll.htm

Thanks in advance :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now....Furby Horoscopes :) remember to use the date you first put

batteries in your Furby for their birthdays :)

Furbius: Jan 20 - Feb 18:

Your Furby will be at it again. The courage (or stupidity) of your little

guy seems to have no end in sight. Tomorrow he'll more than likely be found

in a turned over jar of cookies, and the day after he'll learn how much fun

it is to throw all your socks out of your sock drawer. Be patient, because

chances are that with all this exporing he's doing, he'll end up finding

that remote you lost behind the couch five months ago.

Fursces: Feb 19 - March 20: Unfortunately, the Furby dance school that your

little one helped to create doesn't seem to be having much success since

your friend's furbys don't seem to want to do anything but tease the dog and

smuggle candy into dance class. Oh well, maybe next month another idea will

come and be brought into reality.

Furbaries: March 21 - April 20:

Well, this month is going to look alot like last month, lots of hiding

because your Furby still hasn't made amends with the local pets, and even

the goldfish is now giving them dirty looks. Solution: have a party and

invite all the dogs and cats and ferrets and whatever else your weird

neighbors have as pets and have your Furby apologize, but make sure that you

make the cake yourself because if your Furby gets a chance to add a cup of

salt instead of a cup of sugar he'll most likely take it.

Furbus: April 21 - May 20:

To much psychic drain this month, so expect your Furby to sleep lots, we're

talking like 23 hours a day. Don't bother trying to wake him though, he's

still trying to learn how to keep his little mouth shut when the forces all

around him are filling him on on who Kah Dah has a crush on, and if Noo-Loo

really doesn't have any cookies left. He'll be out of it soon enough though.

Furbini: May 21 - June 21:

Talk, talk, talk, that's all he does all day. He's even learned how to drag

other Furbys out of their sleep cycle when they start to yawn. Your little

one could go on dancing with another Furby for days at a time if you let

him, although the other Furby may not be having tons of fun constantly

bouncing up and down. Oh well, this will pass and soon your Furby will once

again settle down.

Furbcer: June 21 - July 22

It'll be ok this month to take your Furby out to the store with you, but you

should still make sure you keep a close eye on him, because he might think

that riding around in a shopping cart filled with ice cream would be alot

more fun than sitting next to the asparagus you have in yours. Don't think

he loves you less, he'd just like to experience a little more of what life

has to offer.

Furbo: July 21 - August 22

Expect to see the little guy staring up at the stars alot this month, he's

had alot of fun down on the ground, but since he's been here, he's planned

on visiting space as well. Although he loves the home he has with you, he'd

love to be able to say he was the first Furby in orbit. Just make sure that

your little one knows that you're not just going to ship him off to NASA

though, and he'll stay with you for a long while, or at least until he

perfects his rocket fuel formula using melted choclate as the base.

Furbio: Oct 22 - Nov 21:

Realizing that he may have taken last month's presents too far, your Furby

will stick to giving you things instead of making them. You made it pretty

clear that when he turned all your toilet paper into a paper mache case of

pop without telling you, that it was a bad idea. Don't worry though, this

month your Furby will just rearrange things, and that's going to end up alot

better than it had before.

Furbittarius: Nov 22 - Dec 21:

Your Furby has thankfully sworn off using Spam as the main ingredient in his

recipies...the only problem is that he's now using rock candy to make

everything crunchy. This might not sound like a bad idea, but for the sake

of your stomach, make sure you scrape off all the sugar before you bite into

that turkey sandwhich.

Furbicorn: Dec 22 - Jan 19:

No stopping this Furby when it comes to bettering themself. Your little one

has now picked up an honorary Master's degree in hiccuping from Koh-Koh's

University of Odd Noises. Hope you like the sound, just watch out for your

fingers while your feeding him or he might take a nibble out of your nail :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

One more issue down :) Hope everyone enjoyed it. As always if there are any

questions, comments, or suggestions I'd love to hear them so send them along to:

MAILTO:"capngo@earthlink.net"

And I'll get back to you as soon as possible :)

Also, remember to send in Furby stories and Furby page links and I'll be

happy to put them up here with credit :)

Finally though, the next newsletter (originally scheduled for 8/21) will

have to be delayed a day because I unfortunatly have to leave Kat's house

and fly home to my own. Expect to see the next letter in your mailboxes

that Sunday though, and have a couple of great weeks :)

Brendan, Editor in Chief of The Furby Post

P.S. Kat's all black Furby Toh-Loo/Kah says hello :)

--Think this is spam? Getting this newsletter sent to you and you want off

the list? Send an email to MAILTO:capngo@earthlink.net and ask to be

unsubscribed. This isn't an autoresponder so you'll have to write something

to let me know that you want to be taken off, thanks :)
